Making new contacts in the transportation industry

Just started a group called The Airport and Seaport Network on linkedin. You are probably wondering why on earth would I do that. Simple reason.... to create more business and to make my customers happy. The truth of the matter is that many of my customers ask me, do you know anyone in ... that provides as wonderful service as you do. Unfortunately, my answer has been sorry I really don't know anyone. Well, this site will allow me to contact other operators around the world and vice versa inorder to provide the recommendations my customers are looking for. Obviously, all companies must be able to provide certificates of insurance as well as permitting information, otherwise...not interested.

Hurricane Irene

We are so thankful that Irene missed us in Florida. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who's destructive path Irene has crossed. Living in Florida for the last 17 years, I have personally experienced many hurricanes big and small and quite honestly they are all horrible, but the good thing is that I can talk about it. Keep a positive attitude, that is all you can do and be safe aftwards mostly importantly.

Changes in the Palm Beach County Ordinance for Vehicle for hire

Since my last post, many interesting things have been going on in the industry regarding Palm Beach County. Last week we had an industry meeting regarding the changes proposed by the vehicle for hire and many things were discussed including fee changes for newcomers to the industry. Obviously this is a way for the county to make money to pay for their expenses regarding the vehicle for hire account. The good news for all licensed people in the county prior to the new ordinance changes is that they will be grandfathered in. There are many unusual changes that they are planning to make, but for present owners and operators, this will be a good thing. Your company that you put your blood, sweat and tears into will be worth something. The only downside part of the new changes are that the fees will be going up. Obviously, in this economy that is an inevitable thing. Right now, nothing is set in stone and is still in the boards hands. My current pet peeve is that the illegals are still operating without consequences. There are rules to be followed and they are not following them. Honestly, the book should be thrown at them for operating illegally. We shall see what happens!

Meeting August 10 at 7:00 pm. This will be important meeting regarding changes in the Palm Beach County ordinance. Please let me know if any of you are interested in attending. If not you will have to deal with the consequences of what the board decides. I personally like to have a say in what rules the County whimsically decides on, so I will be there. Customer says...What is the price to go to PBIA? I tell her $$$ and she tells me forget about you, so my response to her was to forget about you too and then I hung up. Not the best customer service response, but well deserved. Respect goes both ways you know.

Woke up this morning and decided, I was going to start a blog. So here we go...and welcome to my blog!

My goal is to make a blog that will have something to offer everyone. Since my career for the last 17 years has been in the transportation industry....I figured that it would be one of my focuses as well as other things that people can relate to as well. I love working and dealing with people and what better way to do it would be through blogging. For the record blogging is not a real word, but I liked it so it stays.
